Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Cloud‑Native Networking & Platform Engineer to drive architecture, design, and delivery of cloud‑native networking capabilities across our modern platform infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines deep hands‑on expertise in cloud networking (AWS/Azure), CNI plugin internals, SR‑IOV, SDN controllers, and virtualization networking technologies (OVS, NSX), with the ability to lead cross‑functional engineering efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and lead implementation of cloud‑native networking components across AWS/Azure environments, including VPC architectures, routing, load balancing, security groups, and service networking.
- Work with CNI plugins, SR‑IOV.
- Define and implement network virtualization strategies using OVS, OVS‑DPDK, VMware NSX, or cloud‑native overlay networks.
- Work with SDN controllers to manage dynamic network provisioning, micro‑segmentation, and service mesh / policy automation.
- Lead performance benchmarking, network observability, packet tracing, and troubleshooting efforts across multi‑cloud environments.
- Collaborate with platform, SRE, DevOps, security, and application teams to ensure networking reliability, security, and scalability.
- Guide the adoption of CI/CD processes for cloud‑network infrastructure, ensuring repeatability and compliance.
- Document architectures, design decisions, operational guides, and standards for cloud networking.
- Mentor a team of cloud/networking engineers and provide technical leadership during design reviews and incident analysis.
Qualifications:
Education:
- BE/ME in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, MCS.
Experience:
- 6–8 years of experience in cloud networking, cloud‑native platforms, virtualization networking, or distributed systems architecture.
Professional Qualities:
- Excellent problem‑solving and debugging skills in highly complex distributed networking environments.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.
- Ability to take full ownership of cross‑functional networking initiatives.
- Self‑driven, detail‑oriented, and passionate about cloud‑native technologies and emerging networking paradigms.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- AWS/Azure networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, routing/firewalling)
- CNI frameworks (Calico, Cilium, Amazon VPC CNI, Azure CNI)
- SR‑IOV and enhanced networking drivers in cloud platforms
- Experience with SDN controllers, policy engines, and programmable networking
- Virtualization networking: OVS, OVS‑DPDK, NSX, VXLAN/GRE overlays
- Strong understanding of cloud routing, overlay networks, NAT, VPNs, peering, and traffic engineering
Nice‑to‑Have Skills:
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, and container networking internals
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform, Helm charts
- Experience with service mesh (Istio/Cilium Mesh/Linkerd)
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for infrastructure automation
- Knowledge of distributed tracing and cloud observability (X-Ray, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus)
Preferred Domain Experience:
- Satellite/teleports or other constrained/managed WAN environments.
- Experience with high-latency/variable-bandwidth links and Performance Enhancing Proxies (PEPs) (e.g. TCP acceleration/spoofing, header/data compression).
